METROPOLIS

Fritz Lang

Karim Qqru (Zen Circus), Roberta Sammarelli (Verdena), Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours) and Corrado Nuccini (Giardini di Mirò) have created a musical score based on images from one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of cinema: Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS.

Filmed in 1927, it remains one of the most impressive production efforts in the history of cinema: a year of filming, 600,000 metres of film, tens of thousands of extras and a real revolution in filming technique, with innovative use of the one-step process and the Schüfftan effect.

The soundtrack provided by the four musicians blends with the images, breathing new life into the film and combining the visual mastery of expressionist cinema with the emotional power of live music in what is a veritable concert in the service of the film.
