CAMP IN CINEMA: BETWEEN EXCESS AND ARTIFICE
WITH VANESSA ROSALES, FELIPE CUÉLLAR, JIMMY RANGEL AND ANDRÉS SUÁREZ
Camp is an aesthetic sensibility that finds in excess, theatricality, artifice, and extravagance a particular way of seeing and creating. But what makes an image camp? What happens when these elements become more than devices and turn into an aesthetic sensibility?
Taking TEENAGE, SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA and THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT as starting points, this conversation explores how camp permeates cinema, art, costume, and design.
